About Locate on Map

One continent at a time

Pick a continent, then choose whether to find countries or their capitals. The map zooms to that continent and names ten of its countries or capitals one by one; click where each one is. Three attempts are allowed per question, worth 3, 2 and 1 points, and after three misses the answer is shown. A perfect round is 30.

Six maps of different sizes

Africa is the biggest board with 56 countries and territories, then Asia with 49, Europe with 45, North America with 24, Oceania with 14 and South America with 12. A South America round therefore covers most of the continent every time, while an Africa round only scratches it; the game remembers which countries it has asked, so repeat rounds work through the rest. Europe’s capitals are the classic test, with Ljubljana, Bratislava, Vilnius and Chișinău a few hundred kilometres apart.
