About Country Chain

Build a land route across the map

Two countries are marked: a green start and a blue end. Pick neighbouring countries one at a time until the chain joins them, with each new country sharing a land border with the last one. Picks that are not on a shortest route count as strikes, and three strikes end the round. A game is five rounds, and shorter chains score more.

Common questions

How long are the chains? Easy puzzles need 2 to 3 steps, Medium 3 to 5 and Hard 5 to 8, measured along the shortest route between the two countries.

Do sea crossings count? No. Only land borders link countries, so a country with no land neighbour, such as Japan or Australia, never appears. Spain and Morocco are not linked either, so a route from Europe into Africa has to go overland through the Middle East and into Egypt.
