About the Geographic Features quiz
Twelve categories, twenty features each
Choose a category and every feature in it is drawn on the world map: 20 deserts, 20 mountain ranges, 20 rivers, 20 volcanoes, 20 lakes, 20 islands, 20 seas, 20 peninsulas, 20 plateaus, 20 gulfs and bays, 20 straits and channels or 20 forests, 240 features in all. Then you are asked for them by name, one at a time, and click the right one. Three attempts per question score 3, 2 or 1 point, and you can skip one you do not know.
What each category looks like
Deserts, ranges, lakes, islands, seas, peninsulas, plateaus, gulfs and forests are drawn as areas; rivers and straits as lines; volcanoes as points. The famous ones are easy to find, the Sahara, the Himalayas, the Nile, Mount Fuji, Madagascar, but each category runs well past them: the Patagonian and Great Victoria deserts, the Deccan and Iranian plateaus, the Strait of Hormuz and the Strait of Magellan, the Daintree and Tongass forests. The Caspian Sea is filed as a lake here, which is the geographer’s answer.
