About the Geo Terms quiz
Seventy words for the shape of the land
Each question is a geography term and its definition, with one of the two hidden: see the definition and pick the term, or see the term and pick what it means. Four options, ten a round. Every term comes with a real example once you answer, so a tombolo is Chesil Beach in England, and the three levels ask each of their terms once, with misses returning at the end.
From hill to tombolo
The 20 Easy terms are the ones in every school atlas: mountain, valley, cliff, plain, river, lake, waterfall, bay, peninsula, island, desert, volcano, cave. Medium’s 27 are the next layer, plateau, canyon, gorge, delta, estuary, strait, isthmus, fjord, archipelago, oasis, savanna, tundra, glacier, crater. The 23 Hard terms are the ones that separate people who read maps from people who draw them: mesa, butte, escarpment, confluence, meander, oxbow lake, spit, tombolo, atoll, moraine, cirque, caldera, karst, sinkhole.
